Meet Kait Danforth, Professional Dog Trainer

Hi! My name is Kait; I’m a professional dog trainer and a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.

I graduated from Triple Crown Academy, in Hutto, Texas in 2006; an excellent “hands on” school for dog trainers. While there, I learned everything from basic obedience, search and rescue, service and protection to behavior modification, nutrition and first aid. I’ve been holding classes and private lessons ever since. I live in Waterville, ME with my 2 dogs: Panda, my 5 ½ year old Australian Cattle Dog and Wren, my 2 ½ year old Siberian Husky.

I personally believe that training your best friend is essential to a happy life together. It’s a great bonding experience and makes it easier to communicate with each other. I mostly use the clicker method and positive reinforcement but every dog is an individual so it’s important to find out what works best for each one.

In basic obedience you and your dog will be learning sit and down stay, walking on a loose leash, come when called, don’t jump up on folks, leave it and out; plus, a few other household manners and tricks.
